Welcome to Stone Villa – Your Himalayan Retreat in Almora

Tucked away in the serene foothills of the Himalayas, Stone Villa offers a peaceful escape in the picturesque town of Almora, Uttarakhand. Our lovingly crafted cottages are built by local artisans using stone sourced from nearby quarries. The slate roofs, harking back to traditional construction methods, add authenticity and rustic charm. Each room has Wi-Fi connectivity and is thoughtfully planned with cozy fireplaces and all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay.

Choose between two charming cottages and the main villa:

Wisteria Cottage is a cozy hideaway wrapped in wisteria vines—perfect for couples or solo travelers seeking peace and quiet.

Cedar View Cottage is a warm and welcoming retreat, fringed by majestic deodars and cherry trees. Also ideal for couples or solo travelers.

Stone Villa (coming soon) is the largest of the three, designed for families and larger groups. Fully self-sufficient, it can comfortably accommodate up to nine guests.

Things to Do In and Around Almora

Almora’s Quiet Corners & Cafés

Almora’s old town and nearby hills are home to many quaint cafes. Whether it’s herbal tea on a sunny terrace, or a book with a cup of piping hot coffee, there is something beautifully grounding about slowing down and taking it all in.

Village Walks & Local Life

Take a slow walk through nearby forests and hamlets, where stone houses and terraced fields reflect the rhythm of life in the hills. We will happily guide you to places off the tourist trails where conversations are warm and moments are real.

River Days by the Kosi

Pack a small picnic and head down to the Kosi River – a favorite among guests for peaceful afternoons by the water. Try your hand at fishing, dip your feet into the cool flow, or simply rest in the company of trees and sky.

Jageshwar & Katarmal Temples

Step back in time amidst the 9th century stone shrines of Jageshwar, nestled deep in deodar forests. The air here feels different – cool, still and sacred. For a rare visit, the Katarmal sun temple stands quietly on a hillside- its stones warm with centuries of sun and silence.

Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary

Lose yourself in the dense oak and rhododendron forests of Binsar, about 40 minutes away. Walk gently along shaded trails where birdsong is your only guide. If you’re lucky, you might spot a barking deer or the flash of a leopard’s tail. At Zero Point, the horizon opens wide to the snow peaks of Nanda Devi and Trishul.

Kasar Devi & Crank’s Ridge

Just a short drive from Stone Villa lies Kasar Devi, a sacred hilltop temple surrounded by pine forests and timeless stillness. The ridge nearby – once a haven for seekers like Swami Vivekananda, Bob Dylan, and D.H. Lawrence – radiates a rare calm. Come for the views, stay for the silence.
